The year 2007 in California was a miraculous one that resulted in a wine that Robert Parker called Napa Valley’s answer to France’s Grand Cru.
100-Point Cabernet Sauvignon from Cult Winery Scarecrow
The 2007 Scarecrow is impossibly good — an aromatic, textural, and beautifully balanced cabernet sauvignon that captured a perfect 100 point score in 2007 and again in 2013. Without requiring a wait list or auction, this sought-after wine is now available to purchase for IfOnly members in your choice of a magnum or a set of three 750 mL bottles.
The grapes for this spectacular wine hail from a legendary vineyard in Rutherford owned by the illustrious J.J. Cohn, who, as Chief of Production at MGM Studios, was instrumental in the making of many classic films during Hollywood’s golden years and beyond, including The Wizard of Oz. His unofficial credo was “nothing is impossible.” This sentiment has been taken to heart by Scarecrow’s acclaimed winemaker Celia Welch. Working with grapes from vines that are more than 60 years old, Celia along with owners Bret Lopez and Mimi De Blasio, set out to make a most magical and memorable wine. They have stunningly exceeded all expectations with the 2007 which has never been offered to the public in this size.
You’ll taste hints of juicy briar berries and Bing cherries, sweet black tea, woodsy oak leaf, and the faintest whiff of cigar smoke. These vibrant, lively fruit flavors meld with vanilla and oak tones for a sip that feels satiny on the tongue. A sure prize for any serious collector, your purchase benefits the Tipping Point.
