Husband and wife Garen and Shari Staglin purchased 62 acres in Napa’s Rutherford Bench in 1985 to live their dream to farm a vineyard and produce beautiful wines. Their winery was completed in 2002 and features a 24,000 square-foot underground production facility. With Shari as CEO and Garen as Public Relations Manager they have guided Staglin Family Winery into one of the region’s most prestigious. Their motto is “great wines for great causes” and they have raised more than $800 million to support causes, most notably brain health research. Today, the entire family, including son Brandon and daughter Shannon, is part of the business, which is devoted to organic farming methods.

The International Mental Health Research Organization (IMHRO) was founded in 1995 by Shari and Garen Staglin, who, inspired by their experience with their son Brandon’s schizophrenia diagnosis and recovery, realized that “running toward the problem” could provide solutions not just for their own family but for people everywhere affected by mental illness. Since then, their tireless work, with their board and staff, has transformed the landscape of brain health research and inspired advocates around the world.
