Bottle of Artisanally Produced Mezcal from Del Maguey, Single Village Mezcals
Mezcal is the mother of Tequila, and Del Maguey represents its true heritage. It is among the finest and purest spirits available in the world. The way mezcal affects one’s palate and warms the chest, throat, and mouth are quite different than any other alcohol — and Del Maguey, Single Village Mezcals transcend all others. Take home one very special bottle of artisanally produced mezcal from Del Maguey. Your bottle of Azul Blue Weber Agave, produced in the village of San Luis del Rio, comes from Maguey Azul that has been earth-roasted, fermented with airborne microbes, twice distilled, and unblended the centuries-old Oaxacan, hand-crafted way. The Del Maguey Azul has a distinctively creamy mouthfeel with bright citrus notes and dried tropical fruit. A sweet green herbaceous, wet-stone quality appears with a touch of white peppercorn and a medium long finish.
Del Maguey was founded by Ron Cooper in 1995. Cooper approaches the mezcal-making process with a deep passion, much as he does his art — his work has been featured in some of the foremost art museums in the world, including the Whitney and Guggenheim. Cooper’s fascination with this “liquid art” led to a renewed interest in mezcal in the U.S. and beyond. The artist and Del Maguey owner was named the James Beard Foundation’s “Outstanding Wine, Beer, or Spirits Professional” of 2016.
